"My first involvement with marquetry began whilst I was working in London in the 1980s and staying in hotels from Monday to Friday over several months. To find something to do in the evenings I bought and completed a marquetry kit and back  home in Leeds I noticed in a local paper that the Leeds Marquetry Group was holding an exhibition of members’ work. On seeing the superb exhibits on display, my heart sank as I realised how my “masterpiece” was so inferior. That day I joined the Group and over the following months and years received superb tuition and advice, which continues to this day. I have found this to be a very rewarding and satisfying hobby."
