I came across the Leeds Marquetry Group at the 2014 Christmas Craft Show at Harrogate Showground. My wife prompted me to buy a kit; one thing led to another and I was signed up for the March 2015 course.
Model wooden ship building has been an interest for several years, and marquetry seemed to be a natural progression. I had spent part of my working life teaching Design Technology and, therefore, I had an interest in all practical skills and techniques.
The members of the club have been very friendly and very helpful. They have been willing to share their skills and knowledge with new members like me.
