Fred Rowland (2017)
I got into marquetry because of Malcolm Slater, I have always admired the work done by Malcolm. He has made several pieces of furniture for the church we both attend, and his workmanship is Brilliant. He has kept on at me to come and have a look which I did and Now I am hooked.
I have always liked woodwork and have made some furniture in my time. From being a young boy with limited access to tools I developed a liking for working in wood and while at school woodwork was one of my favorite subjects at which I excelled.
But life took me on a different path and I ended up in engineering and then management, finally into the Hire Business where I spent some forty years, till my retirement at sixty eight at the end of September 2017. So hopefully I will be able to learn more and do more bits that win prizes with the knowledge and support of those around me.
