Ron Dickens's Replica Chippendale Diana and Minerva Commode
My name is Ron Dickens. My working career was spent in the woodworking industry as a woodworking machinist.
I joined The Leeds Marquetry Group about 16 years ago, learning how to make pictures out of veneers.
My last project, with my 2 sons, was to make a full replica of Thomas Chippendale’s Diana and Minerva Commode or in English terms, a sideboard.
The original is in Harewood House. My replica is on display at Newby Hall, Ripon at the moment.
Below are a few pictures of the replica commode being made in Ron's workshop,as well as the final masterpiece as displayed in Newby Hall.
Yes, these are all pictures of the replica, hundreds of hours of work.
